Boost Local Traffic to Your Small Business with Snapchat

OK I know this may not be your favorite topic right now, but we have to talk about Snapchat. Yes – it’s basically for teenagers, but it’s also a great tool to use to build your brands awareness around popular local attractions. There never seems to be a shortage of giggly teens hanging out in water parks, at festivals or street fairs.

Snapchat comes in handy for parents, while shopping & traveling with “the kids” and as a small business owner we all know that those smartphones and selfie-sticks are out in full force when families go on vacation and during the holidays!

Not sure how to capitalize on this trend? If you’re new to Snapchat (like me) you should check out this week’s featured post from the World Travel Market London blog.

Ironically this UK publication featured the brand awareness campaign from Philadelphia! Dana Schmidt, Visit Philly’s Director of Social Media created a “soft-launch” campaign to launch not only the city’s Snapchat account but to also boost traffic around some of the city’s most popular attractions.

Since the launch they have had over 4 million views of those filters from 16,000 users and the campaign went even further after the city hosted the DNC Convention in July.

There are some great ideas here that you could easily apply to your small business, it’s a fairly quick read. You can view the full post on WTM London’s site, check out “How Destinations are Using Snapchat Geofilters”.
